Clamping pyramid - Setting up and programming

In this webinar NC trainer Michael Wiendl explains how to set up a clamping pyramid on the TNC 640.
Advantages of using a clamping pyramid on a 5-axis machine are:

  • 3-axis, 3+2-axis up to 5-axis simultaneous machining can be performed
  • Unmanned production times can be extended by machining several workpieces on one clamping pyramid
  • Machining times can be reduced through tool-oriented machining by reducing tool changes
  • Depending on the angle and arrangement, several workpieces can be machined from up to five sides
  • Due to the 3D basic rotation, the control calculates each spatial angle with the preset of the workpiece

The angles and positions of the individual clamping devices are transferred to the control via the preset management. In programming, the user only has to make sure that he programs the NC programs with spatial angles.
