THE TNC7 GROWS WITH ITS TASKS

The latest TNC offers additional functions and enhanced user support for even greater productivity, reliability, and flexibility.

With new functions and expanded technologies, the TNC7 continues to evolve. From workpiece alignment to done-in-one machining, it opens up additional possibilities
for a wide range of manufacturing applications and supports users in numerous day-to-day tasks. The result is shorter setup times, greater process reliability, and new opportunities for efficient machining strategies. At the same time, the TNC7 is evolving into a family of controls designed for different machine concepts.

The TNC7, TNC7 basic, TNC7 select, and TNC7 go variants all follow a common operating philosophy while offering function sets tailored to their respective fields of application. The following innovations provide insight into recent enhancements and their practical benefits.

RELIABLE PROCESS MONITORING

With software version 21, the existing process monitoring capabilities of the TNC7 are being enhanced with an intelligent recommendation system. The system automatically suggests appropriate monitoring settings and incorporates additional data from the simulation environment. In this way, it helps users identify tool and
process deviations at an early stage. The recorded process data can be visualized directly on the 3D tool path, allowing loads, material removal, and potential deviations to be identified at a glance. As a result, process monitoring becomes not only more powerful, but also easier to understand and significantly simpler to use.

MORE EFFICIENT SETUP

Setting up complex workpieces is one of the most time-consuming steps in the manufacturing process. With the probing functionality of the Model Aided Setup (MAS) option, the TNC7 supports the precise alignment of workpiece blanks and semi-finished parts in all six degrees of freedom. The guided workflow reduces setup effort, minimizes potential sources of error, and speeds up the entire setup process.

AUTOMATION WITHOUT ROBOTICS EXPERTISE

Integrated handling robots are increasingly taking over tasks such as loading and unloading workpieces in manufacturing environments. However, the move
toward automation is often hindered by the additional programming effort and specialized expertise required.  HEIDENHAIN simplifies this step through direct integration into the TNC. Robots are programmed and operated via the familiar user interface, while Klartext cycles and teach-in functions make them easy to use. Ethernet connectivity also enables straightforward integration, including on existing machines.

GREATER CONFIDENCE DURING PROVE-OUT

When proving out new NC programs, the OC 310 override controller assists users with a well-designed operating concept. Its endlessly rotating control knob, haptic feedback, and conditional stops at predefined program points keep the user fully in control of program execution at all times. This makes it possible to identify and avoid potential errors already during the very first program run.

NEW MACHINING POSSIBILITIES

The TNC7 brings together multiple manufacturing technologies within a single control environment. Milling, drilling, turning, and grinding are complemented by processes such as skiving and shaping. All of these operations can be programmed, simulated, and combined within the same environment. Shaping in particular opens up new possibilities. Sophisticated geometries and high-quality surface finishes can be produced economically in applications where conventional milling methods reach their limits or would require significantly greater effort.
